Show Notes
Today you’re physically active. In all likelihood you take for granted the miracle of movement. While you may have the occasional ache or pain, the world is an accessible place for you.
But imagine waking up one day to a physical sensation that starts as a minor annoyance….your big toe feels numb.
Did you pinch a nerve? Sleep on it wrong?
No matter. It will work itself out, right?
What if it doesn’t?
Imagine the next day your leg is numb and soon you’re not able to move it.
Within about 48 hours of that toe going numb you’re paralyzed from the waist down.
Now imagine that happens to you at 15.
That’s what happened to today’s guest, speaker and coach Scott Chesney.
Scott is a dynamic speaker, coach, and for two decades has been a navigator of life with paralysis.
He is CEO of the Raise Hope Foundation. A nonprofit that trains, mentors, and places people with disabilities in careers in the financial services industry. Scott is also a an ambassador for the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. He’s married and is the father of two children.
Listen in as Scott shares:
- How he went from 3 sport athlete to paralyzed from the waist down in about 48 hours.
- His emotional road to independence and how he had the breakthrough that led to his life and work today
- His journey from diff-abled employee to successful entrepreneur and coach
- How he built his speaking business
